August is a great time to have surgery

July 27th, 2010

Why? August can traditionally be a slow time throughout cosmetic surgery. Many people are either wrapping up their summer with one last trip or are starting to get ready for school and the change of schedules that comes with that. The advantage to any patient that chooses to have surgery in August is there can be much more flexibility of schedule in all appointments including consultations and surgeries. And we’re all looking for things to fit our busy schedules and lives. Whenever the time is right for you is the real time to look into cosmetic surgery. Our office will try to accomodate your schedule at any time of year. But if you’re considering any of these amazing treatments or procedures, you can come in any time. That’s one of the reasons consultations are free in our office – we’d rather invest our time in you and give you the best information we can as it pertains to you. And seeing you is the only way we can do that. So we try to eliminate as many barriers as possible to create a comfortable, approachable setting so that you may comfortably ask your questions and make your decisions. Why we offer a “discount day” on cosmetic injectables.

June 24th, 2010

There are two important reasons that our injectable discount day, or Wrinkle Free, Worry Free days as we have named them, serve such a purpose to us as a practice and our patients. Featuring these 15% discounts on these amazing FDA-approved products (including Botox, Dysport, Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Ultra Plus, Perlane, Radiesse and Restylane) obviously offers an incentive to our patients, which we are happy to be able to do. It allows us to maintain inventory according to need and to organize our schedule. We hope it’s a win-win for both our practice and you, our patients.

the “mommy makeover” – what is it and is it for me?

June 2nd, 2010

The phrase mommy makeover shows up in more and more advertisements and more and more cosmetic surgery web sites. So what is it? Basically it is a combination of procedures and treatments that aim to help a woman return her shape or get her body back similarly to what it was prior to her having children. A woman’s body goes through many changes throughout pregnancy and with childbirth. How her body bounces back from that can depend upon many factors including age and genetics.

In most cases a mommy makeover involves a surgical breast procedure and an abdominal procedure. Depending upon the individual patient, the breast procedure is often an augmentation and sometimes includes a lift or mastopexy. The abdominal procedure may be or include liposuction, but most often is some form of a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) which will also correct sagging skin that does not retract. Where the patient has had a c-section, the procedure can include treatment of the c-section scar. Another benefit of the combination breast procedure with a tummy tuck, is the breast implants can be inserted through this incision keeping the breasts from having even a minimal scar.

Our patients who are on this path often opt to include FDA-approved fillers and a skin care treatment regimen or package.

For these reasons, it’s hard to provide an exact cost for someone who may inquire about a mommy makeover over the phone or via email, since what is included or opted for is so individual dependent. We do offer all of the options that will help any “mommy” accomplish her goals. As always, our regularly scheduled cosmetic consultations are free.

Thanks for the read.

A look at the patient process approaching cosmetic surgery.

April 28th, 2010

It seems the only right way to start our blog is by sharing our view of what patients go through in considering cosmetic surgery. I find the time table patients go through very interesting. Many patients consider a particular procedure for a year or more before she or he mentions it to a friend, family member or significant other. From that point there is another period of time where the potential patient does some research, most commonly on the internet, but also by talking with people that have had similar surgeries. People come to see me for the first consultation with a variety of information levels. Any is fine. What’s important is that someone comes in for more information when she or he is ready. The consultation is spent discussing the issue(s) the person is interested in. We discuss options and provide a cost estimate for each option(s) discussed. We leave the time table from their completely up to the individual. Some are ready to go right away. Some have to consider it for a while longer. And some have more demands on their schedule to consider. We consider ourselves as much as an information distribution center on the initial end as anything else. Of course all of these things are subject to each individual, her or his personality and can be affected by numerous factors. These are just observations based on our experience.

When you consider your procedure, we hope you’ll consider our practice. You won’t be disappointed.
